Banana Lab is a place to discover and share the best prompts for AI image generation. This guide walks through everything you can do, from browsing the community feed to generating and sharing your own images.
1. Browse the community feed
The home page is a feed of prompts shared by the community. For each prompt you can:
- Search — use the search bar to filter prompts by keyword.
- Page through results with the Previous / Next controls at the bottom.
- Copy a prompt to your clipboard with one click.
- View reference — open the original reference link, when the author added one.
- Generate an image straight from a prompt you like.
You can browse and copy prompts without an account. To generate or share, you'll need to sign in.
2. Create an account
Click Sign In in the top-right, then switch to Create account. You'll provide a display name, email, and password. After signing up, check your email to verify your account before signing in.
Your display name is how you'll appear next to any prompts and images you share. You can change it any time from your profile.
Heads up: creating and publishing brand-new prompts is limited to admins and subscribers. Any signed-in user can generate images and share their results to the feed.
3. Generate an image
Click the Generate Image button to open the generator, then:
- Choose a model.
- Nano Banana Pro (Google Gemini) — also accepts input images as reference or edit material.
- GPT Image 2 (OpenAI) — text prompt only.
- Write your prompt. Describe the image you want in as much useful detail as you can. (See the blog for prompt tips.)
- Add input images (optional). With Nano Banana Pro you can attach a few reference images (up to ~8 MB each). Switching to GPT Image 2 clears them, since that model is text-only.
- Generate. Your prompt — and any input images — are sent to Google or OpenAI via the Vercel AI Gateway to produce the image.
When it's done, the image is saved to your library automatically. From there you can download it or share it to the community feed.
4. Manage your images
Open My Images from the account menu to see everything you've generated. For each image you can:
- Download a copy.
- Share it to the community feed — or unshare it later (your library copy stays either way).
- Delete it from your library. Deletion can't be undone.
5. Set your preferences
- Language — toggle between English and 中文 (Traditional Chinese) using the language button in the header.
- Theme — switch between light and dark mode with the sun/moon button.
Both preferences are remembered on your device.
6. Your data and privacy
From your Profile you can:
- Export my data — download a machine-readable JSON copy of your account data.
- Delete my account — permanently remove your account, shared prompts, generated images, and uploaded files. This is irreversible.
For the full details on what we collect and who processes it, see the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
That's the whole tour. The fastest way to learn the rest is to browse the feed, copy a prompt you like, and generate your first image.
